September Luncheon – Mr. Tony Buzbee

Thursday, September 17, 2026

For members only

Mr. Tony Buzbee was the guest at the September luncheon. He spoke with members about storytelling, and about doing good in the practice of law.

A lawyer’s work, he said, is often the work of telling what happened. The client’s account has to be gathered, put in order, and told so a judge, a jury, or the other side can follow it. The story is how the facts become something a person can understand. It is part of the advocacy, not a decoration added after the research is done.

He tied that craft to the reason for practicing. The skills of a lawyer are a way to do good: to stand with a client, to see that someone is heard, and to put the profession to use in the community the bar serves. Members followed the talk over lunch while he illustrated it with examples on the screen beside the podium.
